Default BlackBerry Storm won't turn on/dead battery

Please Login to Remove!

I bought a near new storm (no scratches what so ever, he didn't even get to use it) off a friend of mine for $100AUD because it failed to work one day. Anyway he said it just wouldn't turn on. Sometimes when you put the charger in the red light will stay on for 5-10 seconds then thats it but I haven't that happen again.

Last night I was messing with it, plugged it into USB via PC and nothing until I mucked with. Pressing buttons (may have removed the battery) and the PC found it, red light was on and the white screen appeared with the battery and a lightning symbol. I was impatient and had to disconnect the thing, plugged it back in... nothing. Won't do it again, left it on charge over night (5hrs?) and a few hours via USB but still nothing.

Anyone have any ideas? I bought a new battery off eBay which will be here in a few days but until then I'd like to get it going.

Welcome to the forums!

Without pressing any of the buttons, remove the battery for about 30 seconds, then try plugging it into the charger again. You could also try cleaning the battery contacts on bothe the device and the battery itself.

No guarentee that either of these steps, (or a new battery) will fix the issue, but all are worth a try.

Leave it plugged to the USB several hours then with it STILL plugged to the USB, remove the battery and and replace it to reboot.

I will try those steps. I have had it plugged into USB for a long period of time and nothing. But I will try again and again.

I tested the battery with a multimeter today. Here is a pic of what the result was. The red means those 2 contacts together etc. Same for the others. The contact next to the neutral doesn't show any volts when combined with other contacts.
