I was curious how good a blackberry is at playing back media such as mp3 and avi files ?

I saw a treo 650 play Star wars 3 which the guy had burned onto a sd card and was quite impressed (I was thinking of getting a ipod video but the thought of my phone doing something similar is more appealing).

So since i was almost convinced to buy a 8700 when they are released im now doubting that choice seeing what the 650 can do.

Can a BB play back avi's ? divx ?

If you are buying a BlackBerry to play music, then get the Treo 650. The BB specializes at secure, wireless e-mail. The Treos specialize as being poorly built PDAs.

Do not get a BlackBerry if you want to play music or video. They can not play avis or divs, plus they have limited memory and no SD slows since they were designed for e-mail and voice.
