I don't own a blackberry but I'm considering buying the cheapest bare-bones model out there and getting the most basic data plan just to try out the service for a few months before moving on to a more current model as my usage habits evolve. At a minimum, I would like to be able to do the following on this blackberry:

1) Check/trade stocks online.

2) Check maps in Google Maps

3) Check bus schedules.

I found a Blackberry 7280 on Overstock for about $63.. will that suffice? Also, what's the cheapest nationwide data plan that'll work with this phone? Thanks.

Get ai least an 81xx or 88xx. For web browsing. Or 83xx.


And TMobile BlackBerry plan for $20/ month if their coverage is decent where you live work and travel.

Price should not be the first consideration, You should be looking at which carrier provides the best coverage for you based upon where you will use it - where you live, work, travel and play.

A cheap plan is too expensive if you don't have good coverage.
