Default The missing address book...

Please Login to Remove!

Just got another 8700r to replace the last one I lost. Connected the phone and did backup and restore, reloaded all the software etc. as prompted.

No address books...

Now, I was able to reload my address books from my desktop onto my previous 8700r when I got that one, and I have no reason to think my address books have been removed or corrupted as I (unfortunately) hardly ever backed them up.

So, where might they be? I can't find anything in the Application Data folder...

Thanks in advance!

Check to see if a filter is enabled. That would hide everything that's not categorized as whatever the filter says. If it's a used BB there could be an old filter for a category you don't use still in effect. Should be a matter of simply unchecking it.

The other possibility is an old IT Policy in place that prevents a personal address book. It might allow only the corporate global address lookup feature. In that case you need to remove the offending IT Policy: Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ

Did you go to Address Book->Options (select the address book in 4.5) to confirm that there is no address book and/or no entries? I'm inclined to agree with Ramob47 that you probably have a filter active.
