since its new, do a wipe and see if that fixes it.

if that doesnt fix it, i doubt you should go through reloading OS since phone is new, possible return and exchange?

You could still return it if you needed to. Wiping the BB doesn't cause it to spontaneously burst into flames or anything, it just wipes clear the data on the phone. Basically returns it to an out-of-the-box condition.

That said... be careful tinkering with your device if you're worried about drastic. There is a hidden key combination that really will fry your device.* It's the equivalent of requesting that the BB self-destruct, in a sense, when the phone is lost and critical data is onboard. In short (no pun intended), the key command will force the BB to short itself out, permanently rendering it useless. So be careful.

* Or maybe not.

you should return it get something else or simply exchange it. wiping is pretty simple and almost inevitable when using a BB
