Moved to General Discussion.

Click the menu key, then "show all".

What's your BlackBerry model? Might want to fix that in your profile.

Take the battery out and pop it back in.
How about now?

Yes there is. The menu key is the button with the dots on it, next to the track ball on all of my BBs.

But that will do more than just un-hide the icons. For example, if you've moved icons around or changed the default theme background, that will also be reset.

as the OP said they didnt have any icons...
i dont think the fact they are layout in a certain way will bother them that much as long as they come back

Bottom line is Daphne gave the correct answer to the question in post 2 but the OP didn't know what the menu key is.

The Menu key is next to the trackball on the left.

I don't think my response was incorrect.

As noted, they didn't have anything showing at all.

I think it would be much easier to reset everything and then tweak again as compared to unhiding 30 or 40 icons individually.

Whatever, though. I don't know that the issue here is with "suddenly, inexplicably hidden" icons. Sounds more like a theme issue, and possibly a CICAL service book conflict.

We may never know...

Since we know that these strings live forever and for the occasional person who searches, I'm more concerned that some future reader may not realize the implications of using the reset. Also, you don't have to unhide the icons individually. Show all shows all of them.

Not quite missing all icons but select ones. Can't remember how many by default are in the applications folder since I do have a tendancy to move icons around. But those are the ones he noticed so could be others missing as well.

Actually, thinking about it, think you're right that it seems like something else is going on with the OPs phone. Because if he really has a large number of missing icons, I'm not sure how you would accidentally hide a bunch of them without noticing you were doing so. Hopefully, the OP followed NJ's advice to pull the battery and reboot for starters.

Agreed - sounds like something else has made things all wonky.

Let's try this as a tiered solution:

1) Perform a "hard reset" (pull the battery from the device, replace).

2) If the icons do not appear after a hard reset, go to the folder where icons are missing, press the "menu" key (the BB logo key next to the trackball) and select Show All from the menu.

A) If the Show All option does not appear on the menu, switch to a different folder and try again (sometimes the option does not appear if there are no hidden icons in a folder).

3) If the icons still do not appear, go to Options > Theme, press the menu key and select Reset Theme Defaults. Keep in mind this will remove all settings for that theme, so you may have to rearrange icons, re-hide icons, and switch your wallpaper if you've customized it. Reset Theme Defaults reverts the particular theme to its original state.
