Red face Email notification count is wrong

Please Login to Remove!

I have an 8330 with 2 html email accounts installed. Normally when an email is received to one of my accounts a yellow envelope icon appears at the top of the screen with a number representing the number of emails I have. When I delete the emails the icon is supposed to disappear. I have a situation where the counter is off by 1 email so that when I delete all my emails the counter still says I have 1 email. I can't get it to go away.
Help.

Welcome to the forums.

Check your saved messages folder. If there's nothing there, pop the battery out for about 30 seconds.

I came on the forum today with exactly the same problem. There was nothing in my saved messages and I took the battery out for 30 seconds before turning it back on. I still have the 1 new email sign showing though. Anything else I can try?

I noticed you found the problem but another thing happens sometimes: If the time/date are messed up on your phone when you get a message, say after you just loaded a new OS or maybe your computer date is wrong when you sync up, the new message will be buried down in your old messages and you'll have to go digging to find it. This has happened to me many times.

You don't have to go digging. You could press the U key and it will take you to the next unread message

That was it. Sometimes I fat finger and accidentally "save" a message instead of "deleting" it.
Thanks again!

Wow! I just came on here looking for the answer to this very problem. There were messages in the saved messages folder. I must have accidentally saved instead of deleted. THANKS!
