Default BES & BIS Privacy

Please Login to Remove!

I have an 8830 through Verizon.

My corporation does an enterprise activation on your phone, limiting a number of features. One of the open features is adding BIS accounts. Can the administrator see my BIS accounts and email? Or does that remain separate/private?

Thanks for your help.

Nothing can be considered private on a BES device.

I would do a search. There have been a couple discussions in the BES Admin Forum concerning what can and cannot be seen. However, I tend to errr on the side of caution as does Midnightdraven and advice that nothing should be considered private and/or personal if you are connected to a BES.

IMHO, if you need access to your personal info, get a personal device for that and keep the work stuff separate.

Oh, really? Interesting.
How about incoming and outgoing BIS messages?
Web browsing through IBS and third-party browsers?
IM?
Third-party email apps such as Gmail app?

Im not on a BES, that was merely what I have read here.
DubDub says the same, and probably knows more about it than me.
So...yeh.

You're both wrong then.
This topic wouldn't be so confusing to new users if people like Dubdub and yourself would simply stop spreading misinformation, and talking about concepts you don't understand.

It is not like I have outlined the details of what is and isnt private in a post which could be considered "knowledgable" and have gotten that information wrong.

I posted a one line reply which is what I have read here. If its wrong, correct me. I have no problem with that.

I don't think its unreasonable to state "If you want to play it safe then keep personal stuff off of a BES-connected corporate BB". It wasn't too long ago that PIN's were considered to be safe from the eyes of BES admins.
