Desktop manager startup
I am using desktop manager v4.7
When I connect the phone to my computer and start the Blackberry Desktop manager, the program starts and then I get a screen that comes up that looks like the one displayed on the attachement
It says Task in Progress
Checking for device application updates, Please wait...
There is a Cancel box which does not work.
This takes some time and i would like to disable this process

you cant unfortuantely.
supposedly installing DM without the options of automatic updates and check for software updates should stop this process, but i have done that and it doesnt work.
This is a real pain and a waste of time
yup, the only other way is to disconnect from the internet, either pull the cable out or network connections - disable.
this supposedly stops that too. though i have tried it and is just as much a pain.
Interesting. This must be a YMMV issue. I get the box but am able to cancel out of it without problem.
I agree with YMMV. I will get this I think once per installation and once it's done checking, never again.
By installation I mean it seems to come up with a new device OS install.
