Ok, I wanted to be sure what the icons mean, so I'm posting here. I wanted to be sure that the when you're in a conversation and you have the tick with a R over it, does that indicates a reply? I figure the tick with a D indicates that the message was delivered.

I did some research and came up with this AT&T page (Answer Center | AT&T), however, the tick with the R was not mentioned. So I'm checking here for confirmation.

What say you all, what does the tick with the R mean?

It means Read. I sent a message to my friend who was sitting right next to me one day and I then moved the ball down while the message was open and about 5 seconds later the "D" changed to a "R."

I just wanted to be sure that is what it meant.

I just looked in my txt messages, sometimes i get a D for delivered but never saw a R if they read it yet, just happens sometimes i get the D not always tho, i wonder if there is a setting in SMS area so you get a D or R always nice to know if your messages are being read or delivered LOL

but that is for SMS, kirrin is asking about BB messenger.

also i would assume it means read. instead of reply, as if it was replied to, you would know because you would get the reply.

Opps my bad didnt see "BB" messenger should of kept my mouth shut LOL.. but do yu think there is an answer for SMS ones? i just looked in MMS and checked mark, confirm, delivery, read but none for SMS

Localguy, have you looked at the link that I provided in the first posting. It has some info in there might answer your question.

I was thinking that it meant reply because the tick with the R is always over my response to the whatever the other party said. Or are you saying that it only has the R over the tick because the person has already "read" my reply ?

if i send a sms i get a check mark.
if its delivered i get a D above it.
thats it.

i would say its because they have read your reply.
I would ask a friend to test it out.

send a message, but have that friend not read it for 5 minutes and then reply.
if it comes up almost immediately as a R then it means reply, but if it comes up after 5 mins an you get a reply, then it means read.

Ok, got the D on my first message to the contact, now the contact has replied to me, I have replied to the contact. Ok, confirmed. R means READ, as my initial D changed to R as soon as the contact sent me a response.
