MESSAGES is the collection for all message types.
If you have Email and SMS inboxes: seperate in the options of messages, then you will have ALL email going to the MESSAGES icon and ALL SMS going to the SMS icon.
There is no reason why texts will go into the MESSAGES icon, if you have seperated it under the options.
