The one that's running 24/7 (in closet) can run desktop redirector.
Install desktop manager with the blackberry internet email option for the one that you'll use to sync your PIMs, that way you won't have the desktop redirector option on that computer but you'll still have intellisync to synchronize your information with your mail client.
