The Wilson ones (unless they've added to their collection) are wireless repeaters. You have a small cell in your house, and somewhere up on your roof you have an antenna that talks to your mobile provider. Very different tech than the VZW repeater that sends the signal over your internet connection. They can be very effective in buildings with a good signal outside but not inside.
We're contemplating one for an old mountain-valley vacation farmhouse, with the outside antenna up on a pole to try to get a clearer path. Mobiles are unusable on the ground floor, only intermittently usable upstairs, but they work fine a little ways up the hill behind the house. So if we could get an outside antenna up 30 or 40 feet...
