My blackberry signal in my house is poor. Could it be due to my wireless router although a secured network?

Very unlikely - the frequencies are all different. North American CDMA is 850 and 1900 MHz and WLAN is 2.4 and 5.0 GHz (b/g/n and a, respectively).

Is this new with the 9630 as compared to the 8830 and 8330 that you have also had (I think). What sort of siding is on your house?

Hi. Its not a brick house. I assume plaster and cement. Maybe an OS issue. My wife has no problem with her pearl

My Curve gets better reception on second floor compared to my first.. I would think the EVDO RevA would offer a stronger signal..

Could be the new radio in the phone, may have to wait for an OS upgrade.. :(

I purchased the extender. It does help a little. Ranging from 10 to 20 points in signal strength

What is the extender you mentioned? CDMA only or GSM capable? I have marginal signal in my home at times too and an extra 10 to 20 points of signal strength would be a huge help.

Mine is through my carrier Verizon which is CDMA. ATT should have something for their network. To work, it must be connected to a wireless router which you may find with us DSL users.

Ok thanks I got it. I know what you're talking about. It essentially makes you your own little tower in your house running things over your high speed intranet connection. ATT has them as well but they only work for 3G capable phones. Rules out my curve.

Thanks for the reply.

I would double check that.

In addition, it takes a poor signal and makes it mediocre. It provides a boost

Thanks, wasn't sure if you picked up VZW's femtocell or went a different route. Sorry to hear that it is not working as expected.

The Wilson branded products may be worth looking at: Wilson Electronics A few folks I know have their mobile and in-building solutions.

You should try another storm. When I had the Storm for a few weeks, the signal was consistently weaker than my curve, sitting side by side.
