I need to ask a question about Desktop manager and internet connection,

After i installed Desktop Manager the other day i noticed when i turn on my PC and at desktop my little monitors for connections is taking longer for the red X to disappear, I unchecked everything that had to do with Desktop manager and Roxio in MSCONFIG then Startup tab,

So today i decided to do a fresh format wipe everything from my pc so after updating everything i installed Desktop manager and now its doing it again i even removed things from MSCONFIG and start up tab for cell. Does anyone else have a clue or have same problem or even noticed?

Im on Vista Ultimate 32bit incase someone asks LOL..

Mine does this, I havent unchecked things to do with desktop manager.
im on vista hp sp2 64 bit.
ive no idea what causes, i just wait for the programs to load before doing anyhting.

i imagine there is some background processes starting up that cause everything else to slow down, i just dont know what it is.

Well it has something to do with desktop manager im pretty sure cause i had no programs loaded just fresh install of vista with just all updates done and it was fine then loaded desktop manager and that roxio thing that comes with desktop manager and thats when it starts. I'm gonna do another format and see run it for abit before i install desktop manager then i will know for sure. back in a couple hours.. DAMN microsoft with all there updates LOL LOL

also i have the non roxio version
so its the desktop manager that does it.

Having same prob with RoxWatch9. Using Win2000. Tried Run>msconfig and got message file or path can't be found. I checked tray icons and have NO Media Manager running. I tried to stop the process via task manager and got message "access denied" when I am logged in as an Administrator (!). I think this thing was installed when I loaded the software that came with my Blackberry Curve and I'm royally pissed I can't seem to get rid of or stop this process. Any other suggestions? I need optimum performance out of this PC as I'm a day trader adn this stupid process is slowing down my trades because the PC keeps stalling

i dot have anything roxio installed.
i dont have anything RIM/roxio/blackberry desktop manager in services or startup in msconfig.

obv. whatever is causing my problem either isnt causing yours, or its something windows has updated/download etc that is causing it.

Look in msconfig startup see you have something like named like "CommonSD"

( there will be 3 letters in caps at the end, im not sure if it says Common but if you scroll location to the right you will see it where its located at )

nope dont have that. heres my startup tab in msconfig.

Hmmm, i wonder if i do a custom install and and check mark Roxio ( don't install )if i still be able to drag ringtones, photo's onto media card? i'm thinking not?

yes you dont need roxio at all if all you do is use it as a flash drive and drag and drop.

Ok cool, cause i know when desktop manager is up i click on Media Roxio starts then it opens up all my folders from cell so i can drag stuff to folders or make new folders on the media card... I hate things like this when i can't figure them out when i know something is lagging or running in background on pc and i just cant find it, but trust me i will thats how i am LOL LOL

when you plug your BB in, if mass storage mode is enabled, it should pop up as Blackberry 1 and blackberry 2
one is the device memory, the other the media card.
just drag and drop like any normal pen drive.

I found out why mine did it.
It was 2 services related to HP printer software, those to do with detecting the printer is on or not, after i unchecked them, no hang.
