Putting My pictures on my Blackberry 7100i

Check out GT Photo.

(Just for the record) You could have replied to your previous treads rather than making a new one for the same question you had @ Completely Lost?!

Honestly I cannot understand why people refuse to use the search feature and why it is allowed to continue, specially when they are repeat offenders. Lazyness ought not be rewarded. If you dont want to flame you dont have to, just ignore the posts, that is my new approach. If no one takes the time to get the answers for people who will not search sooner or later they will get the point and if they do want the answer or need it that bad they will search. I used to also get the answer while pointing out to use the search feature but that doesnt seem to work, I realize that MFTP wont work either because no one will take on that job, but in all honesty this issue needs addressing.

One reason is that no newbie would know what MFTP means unless they search.

Look, BBs are being given to be people who are not techincally savy, or lazy, all the time. Simple or basic questions are going to asked. It much better to simply tell the person to search or ignore the post.

Anyone notice that anyone that says PLZ or Newbie in their subject without fail has not searched?

I've always hated the term Newbie for that reason. It's not here, it's every forum.

Lets have a filter set up that magically replaces every instance of "Newbie" in this forum with "guy who has not searched"

LOL!! I agree!! But even this forum calls people "newbies"... I just started posting so I'm called a newbie but I'm not a BB "newbie".

I am not taking sides on this one, however, I am a newbie and can honestly say that I use the search feature, and very often. Be that as it may, very often, the results I get via searching are not on point to my situation or question. Practical application is of great help. Now, that may not be the case here. I say this only as a generic point. Blanket reactions may not apply to all situations.

Anyway, I very much enjoy this forum.

In defense to some newbies, they may also be newbies to the idea of forums in general and don't know better. Way back when I was a newbie to forums if I had not taken the time to lurk I may not have searched either. This forum is pretty kind to those who are newbies and is what makes it a great place to find answers.

The sticky at the top of this forum is a great way to try to fix this, but keep this in mind "It is not possible to newbie proof everything."

I'll jump in here as well.

If you are not technically inclined and get handed something like a BlackBerry, how do you describe a problem? Let's take this instance....do a search for the following:

can i use the usb cable to put pictures on my blackberry?

You get 0 results.

I understand that there are search criteria that you can use to come up with results (how do i get pictures on my blackberry) but they don't always come up with "specific" results. This search string came back with "New Model" and "BerryFTP" as the top two results because it got trimmed down to "Pictures Blackberry".

So, before you flame, think about some of this. Before you get annoyed about people asking the same thing over and over remember that not everyone is technical, not everyone knows how to properly search, not everyone has used a BlackBerry before, and that you yourself were once a newbie with just about each and every single piece of technology/software/subject/whatever.

I would rather answer the same question 8 million times in a row than make someone feel bad because they may not be the most technical person, or whatever.

So, to SweetSin (the Original poster) natively there is no way to transfer pics via the USB cable. There may be a third party app, but I don't know of any (i'm not much of a third party kinda guy)

Peace

Zro

How hard is it for those of you on the MFTP bandwagon to ignore those kinds of posts?

Frankly im dissapointed in the Staff's lack of participation on this website...Every site where I am an Admin or where I moderate the staff is all heavily involved in what goes on...I understand that people have jobs and lives....Maybe adding some more staff to help police things is what is needed...you add three or four new moderators and have each of them go through certain sections of the board each day and delete all the posts that already have answers and all of the flaming. I for one would be up for the task of going through the forums everyday and deleting posts that are going to cause problems or posts that have a question thats been answered several times. This fourm is slowly but surely falling apart and its not just the "MFTP" groups fault its everyones from the staff down to the members. if things arent changed this forum will become the "slums" of the blackberry forums and I for one dont want that to happen...even if the staff doesnt take any of my suggestions please understand that ive seen forums fall apart before and this was how it all started..people getting mad because the same questions are constantly asked and the staff not showing any concern......Guess and Staff dont let that happen to BB forums youve all worked to hard for it

The problem that I have are just vague subject lines to begin with like, "The Million Dollar Question" or "Help Please". I doubt the post is about money and help please can mean that we should call the police? Every subject line should be specific or at least pertain to what the subject is.

That just really bugs me.

The motive for flaming is psychological manipulation, pure and simple, intended to making somebody else feel bad. It is not constructive, adds nothing to the discussion at hand, it makes for a bad atmosphere and it should definitely be discouraged. It prevents some from freely participating in the forum out of fear that their post may result in a reprimand. Different people have different approaches to solving a problem. Some do a search and some just ask. It's human nature, and no amount of complaining and finger wagging will change that. In the end the repeat questions by new forum members are far less disruptive then the flaming that all too often follows. My suggestion is that if repeat questions, misplaced or off topic posts etc. cause a strong, negative reaction in you, perhaps stand back and let other, more patient people deal with pointing newcomers in the right direction in a nonconfrontational manner. Many of us don't mind answering a question over and over. Observe how the good moderators interact with others, always respectful and considerate. It's the high standard they set that makes this forum a success and fun to participate in, except for the issue we are discussing here.

I try not to get my shorts in a knot over the search issue. I have used the search feature successfully many times but sometimes you just can't get the right words or syntax or whatever and you draw a blank. Plus, having a chorus of "senior citizens" demanding that someone use the search button is as anoying as someone not searching.
I think KonTiki's approach is best!

Just Ignore and move on!
