Question Blackberry 8330 Micro SD card encryption question (IT Policy on BES)

Please Login to Remove!

HI there, I recently lost my blackberry. My company currently has an IT policy whereby a MicroSD card used in the BB is locked to that specific handheld unit and files I believe are encrypted as they are .REM files. I also had a device password. My question is if the handheld is wiped (after 10 unsuccessful attempts at my password) and restored to store bought state, will the user than be able to access my files on the MicroSD card since it is being accessed by the same unit? Or is the information encrypted to the password that was set on my unit prior to the refresh?

Please advise. Thanks.

It depends on how the encryption was set up.
You can encrypt to password, device, or both.
If it was encrypted to device-only, then yes... those files will be accessible.

Default Blackberry 8330 Micro SD card encryption question (IT Policy on BES)

Thanks! Do you know how I can easily check that? I have a replacement blackberry now - is there a setting that I can look up to see what level of encryption there is? I called my IT helpdesk and unfortunately it doesn't seem that they know what they are talking about...
