Default Backlight Question

I notice that when I take my 7290 out of the holster and press any PHONE NUMER (not other letters), the backlight automatically turns on. Is there any setting so that the backlight will automatically turn on if I press the thumwheel or any other key to check email, for example? Thanks.

on the 7230 if you press the power I/O button it activates the backlight... they might share the same activation.

I understand that, but I am looking for a way for the backlight to automatically turn on when I click any key (like the way it does when you dial a phone number from the home screen). I am also looking to figure out how I can get the backlight to stay on in the car while connected to the car charger. Thanks.

I thought it was silly that this was not already a feature of the 7290.

My preference would to be if Rim allowed you to have an option in the Profiles that allowed you to control When the light comes on. This way you could create a profile called Night and when I am in the car and or some where there is no light, any button would turn on the backlight.

The BBLight is a good idea but not sure I want to go through all of the issue of installing the Chinese version of 4.0 just to get it. :o
