Default 2 Way GMail IMAP Sync Solution

Please Login to Remove!

***I hope this isn't a repeat, but for a few days, I was pretty confused about this, and I'm sure there are of few newbies like myself out there who might be in the same predicament.***

After setting my BIS to receive IMAP mail from GMail a few days ago, I noticed that, after deleting emails on my handheld, it wouldn't mirror the same action on my mac.

When I would get home and check my email on my laptop, all those emails I deleted, were just marked as opened emails.

But just a few minutes ago, I figured out what the problem was.

I opened up the Manage Internet Email website (Settings>Manage Internet Email) to delete another email address I didn't want on my handheld anymore, and after doing that, I noticed that under my GMail address, it said 'edit'.

So I clicked 'edit', and after scrolling to the bottom of the page noticed that under the 'synchronize deleted items' menu, it was marked as 'no'.

I switched it to 'yes', and GMail on my handheld and on my mac has been running smoothly!

It will sync from device to GMail but not GMail to Device, so the Sync is only 1 way.

True. This is the same if you were to link It up to say outlook or thunderbird. The devices will sync to Gmail, but deleting on Gmail will never delete from device.

Also, deleting on say the blackberry will not affect what Is already downloaded to outlook

That's not correct.
Both Outlook and Thunderbird when configured as IMAP clients for GMail will have 2-way sync.
This is how IMAP is designed to function.
The BlackBerry (BIS) implementation of IMAP is where things get funky.
