Default Caller ID Questions

Please Login to Remove!

I really don't like how incoming call phone numbers are not separated by dashes (i.e. 818-555-1234). Is there a hack or a program that would allow me to change this?

Also, the caller ID default screen background sometimes makes the name or number hard to read. Is there a way to change the background or a background theme to download?

Thanks!

I believe the caller ID screen background is theme controlled. Might just try a different theme. Can't recommend any since it's never been an issue for me.

As for how the incoming numbers are displayed, I really don't think anything can be done about that. There might be a slight chance that a 3rd party app exists for that.

Yes the incoming call screen is defined by the theme. Some themes change that background to match a custom background image if you load one to the home screen, too... but whatever it is/allows, it's controlled by your theme.

Does the phone number format not match the entry in your phone book? All of my numbers are formatted as +1 (800) 555-1212 and that is how they show up on my incoming call screen.

Thanks for the phone book entry help. Adding dashes to existing contacts does the trick! Now I have to find the easiest way to edit ~ 500 phone numbers! Unfortunately, there still remains the problem with incoming numbers not already in my contacts.

I just went thru every conceivable Options menu on my Curve 8330, and I could not find a setting to change for incoming calls. Is it possible I'm missing something?

You aren't missing anything. There's not much else you can do with the numbers that aren't in your contact list.

Both replies are very much appreciated; thanks!

One last question: is there a limit to the number of contacts or phone numbers in my Address Book, or is it based on my unit's internal memory or memory card?

The number of contacts for your Address book is only limited by your internal memory (device). It cannot be saved on to a memory card. SIM card limit is 250 contacts.
