Default There is no "Manage Internet E-mail" option on my 8820

Please Login to Remove!

I just got an 8820 and I'm in the process of setting it up. In the Menu all the instructions/tutorials I've read say to select the "Manage Internet E-mail" option, but that option doesn't appear in the menu. Is this like an app I have to install or something?

Some details:
I have an unlocked T Mobile 8820.
I have a T Mobile prepaid SIM card that so far the blackberry doesn't recognized.
I'm successfully connected to my home wifi network.

Without a data plan, the option wont show.
You wont be able to use email without a BB data plan.

Even if I'm connected via wifi? That seems pretty lame. Plus shouldn't just basic phone features still work?

In another thread you are having SIM card problems. Without that resolved, nothing will work.

Yes, without the BB data plan, you cannot setup email.
No, its not lame, its how it works.

Also, yes the other phone features should work, but thats a problem with your sim card, which you have already posted about.

TMO USA prepaid does not have any data plans, let alone a blackberry data plan. You cannot use the built-in blackberry features such as the push email nor blackberry messenger without a blackberry data plan. Not even on WiFi.

Why would you expect RIM to provide services (push email and other Blackberry data features) unless they are getting paid to do so (as they do when you subscribe to a Blackberry data plan). That's pretty lame.

If you want a BlackBerry and don't want to pay for a data plan, fine... but don't expect to get any data services...
