I'm looking to buy a Blackberry off contract - either a pay as you go one from the Apple site or one second hand from ebay etc. I'm currently on the Three network and only pay £15 per month for 100 texts and 500 minutes and free internet. I'd like to stay with this network and wondered if I could get my new phone to work on this contract?

I'm really wanting a good internet service too so was wondering if I could access the internet from this phone using my Three sim card.

No, you would need a BB data plan to use a BB, which 3 have; but not on PAYG.

When you say - 'I'd need a data package' - how much would this cost on Three?

I have am on a contract with Three and not PAYG by the way.

Sorry I did misread the PAYG thing.
You can call them up and ask to add the BB data plan to your contract.
It will usually be around £5 per month.
TRying finding it on their website.

So would my SIM card which I'm paying £15 per month on conract on Three definately work in a Blackberry Pearl 8110?

What would I have to do to the handset to make it work?

Would it allow the 3G sim to work?

Ideally you want to get a BB that is designed for 3.
Which I think is only the Bold.

You would need to purchase an unlocked 8110 or locked and get its unlocked.

Don't see why the 3G sim wouldn't work.

To be honest I like the 8110 Pearl becuase it's small and compact. The others are a little bigger than I wanted.

What features/functions would I lose if I got a BB that wasn't designed for Three?

You say the BB Bold is designed for Three? What advantages would I have with this?

You wouldnt lose functionality
And the Bold isnt designed FOR three but rather the Bold is the only BB 3 offer.
Therefore it is "registered" to work on their network. they have the relevant items to push to your device to make it work.

i.e. I have a Bold, this could be used on any network that offers the bold, once it is unlocked.
however if I decided to get the 8220 BB flip, I could only use it on the networks that offer it themselves. I could use it on a network that doesnt offer that phone; but it may not work correctly.

it will work, but to what extent, i don't know.
i.e. calls will work, texts will work.
email/data for apps/internet and MMS may not work or will not work correctly.
