| USB connection on BBs Please Login to Remove! Hey folks, been a while, but I thought I should say this. Some time back, I contributed to a post which I failed to look for but I remember mentioning that when I bought my original BB, (an 8310), it had a severe charging issue and I had to return it immediately. Before returning it, I noted that whenever I used the USB connector cable, I had to be careful and gentle not to bump the BB or the connection would open and close, over and over again, effectively making it impossible to use.
When I got my replacement BB, it did nearly the same thing and I mistakenly accused the BB as being the problem. In my post, I said that maybe BB had an issue with the USB connectors in the side of their BB's but that since I used BT for sync and backup, it was of no major consequense and I would deal with it.
I have an old Sony digital camera that uses a similar cable to connect to the computer and I remember trying it once to no avail. I figured it should be similar but it wouldn't connect at all. Well, just the other day, I noted that one of my external hard drives uses that same style of cable. Standard USB-A to a mini-USB and I decided to try it in the phone. Well, I can just about dangle the BB by this cable and I never suffer a cut-out or disconnect.
Turns out that the whole time, the problem was with the cable that came with the original BB and somehow, when we were sorting out parts at the AT&T store, somehow, I must have ended up with the old USB cable that came with the original BB. We had stuff scattered everywhere while she was freaking out, trying to figure out why this brand-new BB, right out of the box, wouldn't charge the battery.
Anyway, I must retract my statement about BB's possibly having an issue with their USB connectors inside the edge of the BB. I guess I just had the unfortunate luck to get a bad cable and then, get the same cable with a new BB. Oh Well, all is well that ends well. I just sent away to get a couple spare cables because they were only about fifteen bucks at CablesToGo and I don't want to deal with that again.
