Default Google Sync + Outlook/BES + Thunderbird/gMail = disaster?

Please Login to Remove!

I use one Outlook/Exchange/BES account, and several gMail/gApps accounts that I manage with Thunderbird (because Outlook's IMAP sucks and it's slow).

I want to be able to sync all my addresses among the Blackberry, Outlook/Exchange and Thunderbird/gMail.

Zimbra takes care of the Google/Thunderbird part.

The BES part is obvious and easy - my question is, if I layer Google Sync on top of BES, is it going to mangle the smooth functioning perfection of BES sync?

I've heard some less than stellar things about Google Sync, and I'm pretty worried. Can this be made to work without creating dupes or erasing valuable data?

For contacts, you should be fine. I've been running Google Sync on a BES enabled handheld for a while, and never had a problem with address book sync.
It's the calendar that gets funky if you're not careful.

OK - you're a pro, so that's reassuring.

I think I'll do a backup first, wait until I have time, and in a good mood if this all goes of track.

Will report back!

Thanks!

As expected, Google Sync is creating duplicates and triplicates in my address book. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to which contacts get duplicated.

Sigh...
