Is the device an AT&T branded device or another carrier branded device?

If the device is unlocked, it doesn't matter, it will work on AT&T.

it is unlocked, so all i have to do it pin in my sim card and it will work?

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?

If not, then voice and SMS will work. If you have a BlackBerry Data Plan then everything should work.
