Question Composing Emails with other Accounts?

Please Login to Remove!

With all the various emails I have set up to my new Blackberry, I noticed that I can't select, specifically, which email I want to use when composing a new message.

Here is my situation...
I have 1 account using Desktop Redirector, which I can select to use when composing (Called "Work").
I then have 3 other emails, not including my BB account, that are being pulled from the BB web client.
So my only 2 options when composing are "Work" and "Web Client".

Is it possible to make it like so...
Work
Work 2
Web Client
Gmail
Sympatico

Thanks!

Oh yes, I'm using a 7290 as well.

BBReply will only allow you to add the reply-to header. The from (name) and (address) will not be changed.

You can basically have up to two outgoing emails- your BES and BWC clients. ANy others will have to fall under those umbrellas although you can change the reply-to so that when your recipient hits the reply button, the response will go to the specified reply-to email.

That sucks! How hard is it to just change the From: field in an email? It's just a text file for crying out loud. IMO you're not truly mobile if you can't do that.

That sucks then.
I was really hoping I can compose using any account I wish, perhaps with different signatures for each as well.

I agree- this is a feature I would really like to see in the future. I'm not sure why rim hasn't implemented "profiles"in their BWC or even in the BES.

I'm sure it'll come at some point down the line.

Unfortunately this seems to be controlled at the blackberry server (BWC) end of things, so not even a software hack would work if I understand it correctly.

I'm on a t-mobile 7105t and I could change the "Using:" address when I'm composing a message. And I can also set up auto sig's with each address, but only when I access my BWC from a PC. I'm also running the newest software available if that makes a difference.

Your statement is ambiguous. Can you alter the Using: field on your BB or only when you log in from a desktop machine? How can I check which version of the s/w I am using, and how can I upgrade if necessary?

This is the second time I have heard that the T-mobile version offers more robust email features. What gives? Isn't it just the software that controls this? I mean, a From: field in an email is just a line of text, it has nothing to do with the network.

I can change the "Using:" field from my BB. To check your software version. go to setting -> about. Not to sure about how to upgrade your software if your not TMO. I was talking about how to set an auto-sig when I was referring to logging onto BWC through my PC.

So you can change the Using: field on your T-mobile BB but I can't on my Nextel BB. BS. I'm not paying $45/mo for this if I can't wirelessly reconcile with a POP account.

I have a 7100g with latest 4.0 OS. I have BES and BIS set up on the device, and can switch between the BES and BIS client in the "Using" field when composing an email. I think that's what meth0dz is talking about. I too have different signatures set up for each client. The BES sig is set up on the BB. The BIS is set up on the BIS website (at least it is for Cingular). You have two to choose from. That's as far as it goes in terms of flexibility, at least with 4.0 OS. Can't speak to 4.1 OS.

I'm confused now. This is too new to me. It sounds like only BES users are able to change the Using: field then, is that what you're saying? If so, that makes a lot more sense than the T-mobile vs. Nextel thing. The whole thing is mute though since I can't wirelessly reconcile my ISP POP accounts. If that doesn't work I'll be getting new emails on my BB every two minutes even though I'm sitting at my desktop. What's the point of that?

heh, 7100i has 4.1 which is the latest software. It is odd that you can't change the Using: field. I read your other post on the other thread. You said one of the problems is that when you delete your email on your PC, you expect the email to be deleted on your BB. I could be wrong, but to my understanding, this can't be done on any carrier unless you are running BES. could someone clarify this for us?

Well sort of. I am not running BES at all. I'm only on BIS/BWC. I use 3 different emails, personal, professional, and school. When I compose an email I can choose whichever email address I wish to send from. 2 are POPed to the device and the other is yahoo.

I think you are right, sadly. If this is the case, I will most likely be switching away from the BB altogether. With BES it seems like a nice unit, but I can't afford that as I'm only an individual. POP reconciliation is the only selling point for me.

How the hell do you do this?! Please tell me. You're on T-mobile, right? 7105t? What the hell is the difference? Why can't I do this, too?! Argh!

Oh well, no difference, if I can't have wireless POP reconciliation.

So in conclusion 7100 users can do this and 72## users cannot?

So, you are saying you choose between emails on the BB device, or in Outlook? Didn't think it's possible to switch between BIS emails when composing on any BB device, even with 4.1 OS....

There are hosted BES services that are affordable for individuals, including, I believe, one of our sponsors.
