i just bought a storm 2nd hand with bell canada.
i was able to use unlimited internet connexion on my old motorola for 10$ a month. now with the storm, i m not able.
the rep says that i absolutly need the data plan!!!!

is that true?? otherwise, what can i doo??

Let me ask you this, have you even called Verizon to get the phone registered on the Verizon network.

Do that first, because as stated in yet another part of this thread, I don't think they will.

as i said in my first post : the phone is with bell canada and it s already activated with bell canada.

bell canada rep says i need to have a data plan to access internet.
but i saw that i will be able to do with an internet connexion (generic data plan) if i install opera mini.

i just wanna confirm that before i start installing and all that.

ok, I saw you profile here says Verizon, I made the assumption you were moving the device from Bell to Verizon.

So, Opera Mini should work good. Watch your Bell Canada billing to make sure they do not charge your data differently than the generic data plan.

oh sorry i m gonna change the verizon thing,
is there anything i m supposed to change on the phone after installing opera mini??
Will it still work if i desactivate the data option on the phone to be sure they will not charge me data??

Within the links JSander provided should be the caution that you will not be able to download anything to the BlackBerry without the BlackBerry data plan, even with Opera Mini. That means no downloading ringtones, pictures etc. Kind of a bummer.

i dont need to download anything.
my need is very basic : phone and internet connexion to check my emails few times a day and follow the stock market.

opera mini doesn t support the storm (i can t find it in the list).
what can i use beside opera mini please?

ok i was able to download opera mini on my storm but it still doens t work.
i noticed that when i change the tcp setting by putting INTERNET.COM
and come back few second later, it desapear...

any idea please??
