Default BlackBerry Desktop Manager Intellisync Errors/issues

Please Login to Remove!

Not sure of the model of phone just yet - Windows XP Pro SP3 - Desktop Manager 5.0.0.11

I have a user who used to sync her blackberry with their Outlook 2003 using the desktop manager with no problems.

However now when the sync is process her calendar it always stops in the same point process their calendar #54 of 282 with the error The Operation terminated unexpectedly.

Here is what I have done so far.

1) Tried deleting the Intellisync folder under this user's XP profile and let recreate. This worked for a while however this fix has stopped.

2) upgraded (uninstalled old software and then installed the new version) of the desktop manager to the latest version

3) Tried looking for corrupt outlook appointments on calendar by switching the view on her calendar to dispaly all active appointments (which includes the reoccurring appointments) and going through and opening all appointments to see if any of them were corrupt. None are.

Are there any logs that get generated during this synchronization process that I could use to track to see what appointment desktop manager is running up against to cause this error?

Any thoughts or suggestions on what to do would be great. Thanks.

It would be helpful to know the device, OS on that device and version of Desktop Manager.

Did you try to find/delete record #54? It could possibly be a blank entry.

You could also do a backup of the BB and then delete all of the calendar entries on the BB and then run sync again and see what happens. Make the BB backup first however, in case it doesn't work and you need to bring back the calendar on the BB.

I am having a similar problem. I have a pearl 8100, with OS 4.5.0.55. Recently when i try to sync i get an error message stating error contact #89 of 290, Also, i am unable to run a full backup. I have gone through to check the contacts and nothing out of the ordinary. Deleted the contact at 89 and still nothing.

For the backup, as soon at it reaches the messages it failed. I did the manual backup excluding the email message and it worked fine. Then i change the setting of the automatic backup excluding the messages and still got the same error message at the same point.

Any ideas?

Desktop manager is version 5 as stated in original post.

How and where do I find out what or where Item #54 is. Are there log files that are generated?

Checking on the version of the phone. Can I walk the user through to pull that information from the phone itself?

Even though I am this users IT support person I dont use the Blackberry as my own phone so if I ask some questions for some pretty simple tasks please understand this process is new to me. Forgive me I have been an active sync user all my life!

Is that for the software on the phone or Desktop Manager? If its manager its version 5.0.0.11 as I have stated before.

So this would be a contacts issue and not a calendar item? I only have calendar check to sync within the manager.

Well.. I got it working however I dont know if this is a perminate fix.

I did an export to PST file of this user's outlook calendar (as a backup) then deleted all appointments in that user's calendar, deleted the intellisync folder in her profile and re-synced their blackberry. This users phone repopulated the calendar and it looked like it worked and corrected the issues we were experiening.
