Email settings

I recently used desktop manager to transfer from an old blackberry to the 8900 curve and when I receive an email it is not showing the star on top of the individual email boxes but only on the main messages folder. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Is there a way to delete the message that shows up at the bottom of an email, showing that I replied or initiated my email with my BB?
