Default sim phonebook

Please Login to Remove!

I would like my SIM Phone Book to come up when I go to my Messages folder. As it is now, I go to Messages, Click the Menu Button and go to Compose SMS Text, it then goes to a Use Once screen where I again have to hit the Menu Button, and I can then enter my SIM Phone Book and find the contact's name.

Is there a way to simplify this by going straight to the SIM Phone Book after I click the Menu Button the first time? I feel like it used to do this, but now changed.

Also, I used to just start typing the name of a person at my home screen and it would take me straight to the SIM Phone Book, but all of a sudden it does not do that anymore. When I type a name now it says No Addresses below the name I am typing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a reason why you prefer using the SIM phone book instead of the device's phone book? I'm thinking it'll make things a lot easier if you use the device's phone book.

I believe usually when you type in a name at your homescreen it searches for contacts in your device's phone book, not the SIM one.

I would go into the SIM phone book and press the menu button and Copy Contacts to Device. That'll make it much easier and also it will work as you wanted it to.

SIM phonebook support is really there only for people migrating to the BB from a "regular" phone.

Copy your contacts to the address book and forget the SIM phonebook. Make sure that you sync/backup regularly.

Ok, I went and Copied All To Address Book, but I am still having the same issue. I go to Text and it still takes me to the USE ONCE (No Addresses) screen, and I still have to go to the SIM Phone Book.

Even when I go straight to my Address Book - it goes to the Personal screen and says No Addresses. There I have to hit Menu and again go to the SIM Phone Book to get to my contacts.

Sorry for my Blackberry ignorance, but when you say in "contacts" - is that the same as the Address Book?

If so, when I go to my Address Book and hit Menu, there is no option to Filter.

ahh, different model, different OS.
Yes I meant address book
(its called Contacts on the Bold)
And there should be a filter option, or possibly called category/ies?
AS it sounds as its set to only show those with a certain category (hence a filter) and why its not showing any entries.

Ok that worked and the filters were unchecked, so thanks for that, but I have 1 last question.

How can I get the Address Book to come up when I start typing a person's name at the home screen?

Wirelessly posted (Tmo's cheapest BB customer)

From the home screen press the green send key, then the menu/BB key, options, general options, dial from home screen -- switch to YES.

Sorry, but that didn't work for me. I try to type the name John from my home screen, but it takes me to a No Addresses screen.
This is different from what it did before, and I don't know why it changed.
It used to go straight to all the J's in my address book right when I typed J.

Thx for any more help
