Question 8900 or 9000

Please Login to Remove!

My office is switching from Verizon to AT&T; they are offering me either a Bold or an 8900. I'm leaning towards the Bold as it strikes me to be more feature rich - but, the 8900 is newer.

Also - the Bold has the bigger screen but does it have better picture quality?

All input appreciated. Thanks.

Same size screen... the 8900 has double the application memory, but the Bold is a solid device! Great keyboard.

The Bold has a 480 x 320 screen; the Curve 8900 has a 480 x 360 screen.

actually the screen is NOT the same size. but it is almost the same resolution giving the 8900 a sharper picture due to having the same number of pixels in a smaller area. bold has 3G 8900 does not. (some prefer not having 3G) 8900 has a better camera (3.2 MP) with auto focus. then of course there is the physical size difference. if you prefer the smaller size, you may want to wait a bit for the 9700 coming out possibly next month. it should have the best of both worlds in the smaller form factor

I'm not familiar with the 9700 - will this be a Bold with a 3.2 MP camera? Will the screen size or resolution be the same (or improved)? Is it really coming out next month? If so, will it be on AT&T?

Thanks.

Pick the features that you need/want. Try out the keyboards and see if you have a preference. It's the same for any model comparison. Newer != better.

I've always said Bold, but the more themes i design the more I start thinking i'd trade the 3G that I barely use for the extra 40 pixels in height.

Compare Phones (Phone Scoop)
Thank you, I knew the Bold was not bigger, but didn't realize the 8900 was even slightly larger, and I have one of both now in front of me and see that.

Smaller, but higher resolution and therefore crisper.
Physically the screen is not bigger.

My upgrade was due for my 8800, used it for 2yrs, no issues, fell many times and good soaked in the rain .. still working. Looked and reviewed both Bold and 8900 for few weeks and 8900 was the one for me. It looks great, just right size, light. I also got the swivel case from Blackberry, it was tight but then I pushed in my old 8800 and left it for 1 hr to strech it and just slides in now. It is really fast when searching through my 100's of emails. Bold fills really big even bigger then my old 8800 and I did not like the fake leather back of it.
My only hope is that it will be trouble free as my old 8800.

Bold: US 3G
8900: EDGE

That would just about settle it for me.
