Dates in spreadsheet are different on Blackberry vs. PC

Odd issue here.

I have an excel spreadsheet, with dates on it.

When viewed on the PC, the dates show to be in the year 2009

when viewed on the blackberry, the dates show to be in 2005, a day earlier.

What causes the problem?

Example data:
On blackberry: 10/19/2005
On PC: 10/20/2009

Any ideas on this one?

Thanks for your help!

Not that it should matter, but is the date/time/year correct on the BlackBerry? Does it do this if you open the spreadsheet on a different device?

I can't verify their devices (multiple people reported this), but I can definitely say that the date/time is correct on my own device, and they emailed me a copy after discovering the problem.

the problem is the 1904 date system!
microsoft kb/214330

I can't post links yet (not enough posts), only three or so at this time ... but someone answered my question on this at the ATT forums.

Here's the link:
Description of the differences between the 1900 date system and the 1904 date system in Excel

To set the date system for a workbook in Microsoft Office Excel 2003 and in earlier versions of Excel, follow these steps:

1. Open or switch to the workbook.
2. On the Tools menu, click Options. In Excel X and later versions for Macintosh, click Preferences on the Excel menu.
3. Click the Calculation tab.
4. To use the 1900 date system in the workbook, click to clear the 1904 date system check box. To use the 1904 date system in the workbook, click to select the 1904 date systemcheck box.
5. Click OK.

To set the date system for a workbook in Microsoft Office Excel 2007, follow these steps:

1. Open or switch to the workbook.
2. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Excel Options.
3. Click Advanced.
4. Click to select the Use 1904 data system check box under the When calculating this workbook, and then click OK.
