Default Blackberry roaming?

Please Login to Remove!

This is probably the most confusing thing about BB's! Whilst i am abroad i turn my data services off so as not to incur roaming charges and im told that i can get my emails and bb messages through wi-fi and not have to turn my data services on? I am currently away and staying in a wi-fi area so how do i get my BB to push e-mails, use BBM and other stuff trough wi-fi?

I believe:
you turn data services on
then check wi-fi
let it connect i.e. white logo
then uncheck mobile network connection

this will then receive emails via wi-fi.

i think i got it? You have to turn data off while roaming then change browser settings to hotspot. The edge symbol is in lower case and the wifi logo is white can any body tell me if this is correct?
