If someone has my BB Pin, can they get into my phone and read my SMS or anything?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

When talking about a BlackBerry, the 'PIN' is a unique identifier for the device - like a serial number. You can find your PIN by clicking on the Options icon, then Status. I think you're talking about a password, to unlock the device.

Yes, if someone has your password, they can read everything on your device.

You may also be referring to the SIM card PIN, which is different still. Since no BlackBerry data is stored on the SIM card (except maybe contact info if you've moved it there), then yes, even with the SIM PIN, someone could read your SMS messages.

It's like giving someone your phone number. They can't access your phone unless you hand it to them.

No, if you give someone your device PIN for BBM they will not be able to access the phone. The device PIN is simply a 'serial number' for your device.

A password is used to secure your device. When a password is set (by you) and in order to access any of the information on the device, the password must be entered.

You can set the password under Options -> Security Options -> General Settings.

NOTE: If the wrong password is entered 10 times in a row, all information is deleted from the device.
