From what Ive read, Cricket dont have a BB data plan of any kind and that is needed to use messenger.

No can do. Like Midnightdraven says, you cannot use BBM without a BlackBerry data plan. BlackBerry Messenger uses data only, and you cannot change it to use SMS to send messages. "It is what it it."

Welcome to the forums.

Cricket does not sell BlackBerry devices therefore no BlackBerry data plans. You can activate a BlackBerry on their network, but as stated above, you cannot use the data features of the device.

Quite right! Or, if you're not going to get a legit BlackBerry data plan, there are much better choices out there for a mobile.

To my understanding you can get "web" on cricket bb, but i dont think messenger will work.

email cricketblackberry[at]gmail.com and it sends you back instruction on how to get web working.

I remember when Sprint was in trying to see us on Windows Mobile as they didn't think BlackBerry would ever make it. They tried to pond those WM devices off on us.
