Default Questions about Hotmail and multiple e-mail accounts on a BB

Please Login to Remove!

So I'm new to the world of blackberries and I'm thinking of buying my first BB when the Onyx comes out. I have a bunch of questions to ask. I'm currently using Microsoft Exchange account, Hotmail, and Gmail e-mail accounts. Can a BB be setup to use 3 different e-mail accounts?

Is it mandatory to have a BES account to access my MS Exchange account? The reason why I ask is because it's going to be like another $10/month on top of the Exchange fee. I've taken a quick look at the BES features and while it's great to have them, I don't necessarily need all of it. What I really want is to be able to just get push e-mail, sync calendar, contacts, and tasks between my Exchange account and the BB. Are there other solutions that will allow me to do this?

In regards to both Hotmail and Gmail, I understand that both services doesn't have a two-way sync right? What I mean by this is that if I delete e-mails from those accounts from the computer, then it won't be reflected on the BB? Or there's two-way syncs working with both services and the BB?

You can have up to 10 BIS accounts (Hotmail, AOL, Yahoo, Gmail, etc) and 1 BES account on your BB simultaneously. That is a total of 11 accounts at once.

If your employer allows OWA, you could probably be alright using BIS to get your email. You won't get wireless sync of calendar, contacts, tasks, notes. You do need BES for that. However, you could do a wired sync to get those items.

Will Hotmail/Gmail e-mails, contacts, and calendar sync with a BB? If so or not, can you please elaborate on it?

I just read up on something called BES Express. Is that still available? What's the cheapest, but reliable BES hosting option available? I'm assuming I'm going to be looking at least $20/month with BES and Exchange hosting all-in-one solutions?

lsquare, I suggest you use our SEARCH function and read our FAQ to answer your questions. Most of what you ask have been covered many times in many different posts and in the FAQ. Once you do that, then post your questions and we will try to help.

For BES options, a hosted solution is available from exchangemtmail, mailstreet and others. Prices vary but are about $20 a month on top of the BES data plan.

If you use BIS for email. you can also try Googlesync for calendar and contacts.
