Default A question regarding incoming Emails

Please Login to Remove!

Grovelling apologies for what may be a dumbo question, but please understand I am only just beginning to learn to drive this new '8900' and the most pressing question I have for the Group is how do I stop incoming Emails from opening automatically?

Am hoping this is possible - please advise.

Many thanks from Canteloube.

A carrier is the network you are on.
(for the ? in your profile).

When you say, opening automatically, is this when you pull it from a holster?
when you unlock the device?
pick it up from a charging cradle?

Thanks for your reply - ok, let me exand......

Incoming Emails 'open' (ie. I am able to read the contents) when I remove the device from its holster, having received an audible notification of its existence.

What would be useful would be if it were possible to identify the sender from their address in order that I could delete same w/o opening.

Reason being to avoid receiving Spam.

Its gonna sound crazy, but if you leave talking it out of the holster for 30 seconds, I believe it wont open automatically.

If you hear the sound, take it out of the holster within 5 seconds for example, it will open automatically.
leave it for a few more moments, it wont.

You're right - thanks a bunch.

You have no idea how helpful that answer is.

Best wishes from Canteloube.

I believe if you remove it from the holster within the first 15 seconds of receiving the notification, it will open automatically. Anything after 15 seconds and it will not.

Wirelessly posted

It is designed into the phone, activated by the magnetic switch in the device, to open as a quick-draw feature for business users, to save them time sorting through menus if they pull the BB device immediately. Many people ask this question, but the answer above, wait 15, is the only real answer to your issue.
