Default Blackberry and Gmail

Please Login to Remove!

I recently created a Gmail account and added it to my Verizon BB Curve. I also have my school email account and an AOL email account on there as well. My problem is that when I receive an email through my Gmail account, the icon does not have the little red star on it or even the number of unread messages in parentheses. The general message envelope is the only one that has the star on it. Upon creating my Gmail account on my BB, I was instructed to upgrade to the Ehanced Gmail plug-in for Blackberry. This left me with the same icon (envelope with a globe) so I don't know if it actually completed. Is all of this typical with Gmail or is there a way correct this?

the MESSAGES icon is a catch all for messages.

most people hide the individual email account icons.

How do you hide individual email accounts? I hate having my email and texts together.

They are two separate things.

1. To separate email and text, go to the messages icon, hit the menu button and choose OPTIONS / GENERAL OPTIONS... scroll down to SMS and Email Boxes... and choose SEPARATE.

This will cause another icon to show up on your phone - for SMS/MMS messages.

2. To hide individual email accounts, find the icon (with the newer phones/themes, the icons are the email envelope with the BB icon on it)... highlight the icon, press the menu button and check the HIDE option. Also, make sure SHOW ALL is NOT checked. You have to repeat the HIDE process for each icon that you want to hide.
