Exclamation Please help, my 8900 went crazy - 09-20-2009, 11:51 AM

Hello everyone,

This is my first post, so thank you in advance for any an all help.

Prior to 3 days ago, everything on my T-Mobile 8900 was working great. Then out of the blue, I stop receiving email, my internet does not work, my apps such as facebook, BeWeather and App World will not update/connect. Phone, sms and OUTgoing email were not affected. To fix the problem I tried:

1. Hard reset (30 sec battery pull)
2. Resending my service books from T-Mo BIS
3. Registering through "options" and "host routing table"
4. Downgrading from os 4.6.1.231 to 4.6.1.114

Downgrading the os allowed me to connect to the internet again and apps like facebook (appear) to be working properly. HOWEVER, I am still not receiving my email. I tried deleting my gmail account and restoring it, that did not fix the problem. I had to do this from the T-Mo BIS website because the setup wizard on the phone only gives me the option to set up a BES account (something I do not have). If I click on my "manage internet email" icon, I'm taken to like a T-Mo hotspot homepage, not the usual email set up page.

I am completely confused. T-Mo customer service had no idea how to help me. I've used Blackberry for almost 4 years now, and while I don't consider myself an expert by any means, I've never had a malfunction like this. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Adam

It could be as simple as a data/BIS issue locally.

I'd say continue to do a powered on battery removal/reinsert as you have, and from time to time, resend the service books. Those two things, along with the HRT registration normally produce results.

You could go to Options > Advanced > Service Books and delete any entry associated with your email accounts and browser. Then resend the service books.

And other than any confirmation of a localized data problem, that's about all you can do.

What is your EDGE signal status?

I'm experiencing the same thing today. Everything is delayed and loading pages and FB is super slow. I also cannot access the page where I could resend my service books from my phone unless I'm on Wi-Fi. As a matter of fact, Wi-Fi is the only thing making this bearable, for now. But what happens when I have to leave the house?

evenflo, you can use a PC to resend the service books.

Yes, I know. I tried it last night and re-registered. Still the same symptoms. Perhaps there's an outage.

Is there a way I can just wipe the damn thing and start over? I've tried resending the service books 10+ times and it's still not working. Per JSanders advice, I deleted all service book entries related to my email and browser. Now I can't even compose mail because it says "no message services configured." I'm afraid I'm messing it up more than helping it. Any advice at this point is, again, greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone whose helped so far.

Before you wipe your 8900, call T-Mobile and check that they have your data plan attached to your account and properly configured. Ask them to reset it if possible. Sounds to me like TMO isn't providing the services they're supposed to.

Agreed, I have seen more than once the BIS plan mysteriously removed from an account, accidentally by the carrier.

Thanks for all the advice...T-Mo will be receiving another call from me tomorrow. I'll let you know how it all turns out.

Default Was your issue resolved? - 11-05-2009, 05:02 AM

Dear Admac,

I'm experienceing the exact same issues.
Had to google to get here as noone at T-Mobile seemed to know what the problem was...they said it's due to network problems in the.
Hope it's true and I get back my emails.
