Default TCP/IP options

What options/services are available to me to allow me use of the TCP/IP stack and it's associated applications? Is EVDO what I should be looking at, or is there something else that I can use. I do not have access to a BES, I am a consumer user.

Have you read the Sticky Threads in the General BlackBerry Discussion forum? If not, there is one specifically about configuring your BB for Internet access.

BlackBerry Internet - MSN/chat/web/telnet/TCPIP - No BES!

I have read it but I still am unclear on what kind of service I will need to purchase in order to use TCP/IP apps... do I have to use EVDO or is there a slower more generic service that should be available as well?

Also, I don't have TCP in my options menu

What BlackBerry do you have. Do you have any BB service? You must have service FIRST before doing any sort of Internet access. You don't buy EVDO. You buy whatever service the carrier offers.

well my carrier offers EVDO, but I think they offer another data service as well

I have the 7250 with Telus.

No service yet, I am taking care of that tomorrow or this weekend. I have the device already though.

Once you get the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account, TCP will show up. Forget the other data plans - you will need the BlackBerry Data Plan.
