Default Jad/Jar converter to ALX?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey.

I'm very new to the blackberry thing, and just got my phone maybe 2 weeks ago from Ebay. I've got a Curve 8310.

I've figured out a lot about it, however i am still having an issue. I do not currently have internet on my phone, and will not until Jan-Feb 2010. OTA apps are NOT an option for me. I did find that it was possible to download third-party freebies to install to my BB. The problem is i have these JAR/JAD files, and need ALX files to use in Desktop Manager (version 4.7). How to do i convert these?

I have attempted to install these programs by just placing them on the SD media card. However, when i attempt to install these, they either do not work, or they install just fine, but when i attempt to open them via their shortcuts, i get a verification error. Is there a way to fix this? If there is a way and its complicated, can you break it down in simple terms for me?

One more question, do you have to verify OTA to download the latest version of phone updates? (what is it? like 5 or something?)

Thanks so much for your help!

There used to be a program a while back that converted jad/jar to ALX, but I can't seem to find it at the moment, or it might have been since removed.

As for your last question: not quite sure what exactly you are asking but OS updates for the phone are usually not done OTA. You download the upgrade onto your computer and it will install to your phone. To see the latest (OS4.5), check out the BlackBerry Curve section of this forum. http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html
