Default Treo 700, Moto Q and PPC 6700

Please Login to Remove!

I would like to get everyone's opinion on the new Palm Treo 700, Motorola's Moto Q, both due 1st QT 06, and the Sprint PPC 6700. I picked these because both these products are aimed at the BB user and I am interested in them as potential replacements to my 7100i. If you think there's a better non-BB product, post it.

Now that RIM is having legal problems I wonder how many will switch to one of these?

Its difficult to offer an opinion on technology that is not yet available.

You needn't worry about RIM: The legal issue will be resolved...

I understand, I'm just looking for first glance opinions. They all offer great features, but none of them are perfect. For example, the 6700 offers all the features anyone could want, but it's a brick. the Moto Q looks great but has EDGE and no wi-fi. None have built-in GPS. Just some examples.

Obviously it will be resolved, but what will happen to the company and it's products/services? Could it be in a position to be bought out by a rival, like Microsoft?

Nextel 7520's have built in GPS. I've used the 6700 but the Active Sync software is terrible and server support isn't available yet nor does Goodlink support it yet. Who knows about the Q since it doesn't exist.

A friend just got a 6700. It looks nice, but the keyboard does not seem sturdy when it slides out. Nice size though. I did not like that it does not have a numeric keyboard to dial numbers off the screen. It seems like a ppc with a phone built in. Oh yeah, that's what it is. If you like ppc, you will probably like it. I loved my ppc, was impressed, but for the price, I like my 7100i. It does have EVDO, I believe, but I don't use my phone for internet access for long periods of time, so that doesn't matter either.

The more I think about it, I really don't need a lot of fancy features. I guess it depends on your definition of fancy, though. I don't need games, cameras, spreadsheets, or word processors. Who does? Just use your damn laptop.

All I need is clear voice, fast email (push), telnet/ssh, a decent browser, modem capability and GPS. My 7100i pretty much covers all that, but it ain't cheap at $100/mo.

Wirelessly posted (your electric?: BlackBerry7100i/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/103 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3 UP.Link/5.1.2.16)

The Moto Q will be on vzw first therefore it will have EVDO and not EDGE. Also as for the phones I say Treo 700 EVDO and probably bb connect since the 650 will have it soon. That would be nice, plus the keyboard change looks like a good one. pink

Where do you get your information? Every review I've read says the Moto Q will use EDGE and therefore will most likely be on Cingular first.
