You can only do that with BES 4.0 and the associated desktop software that comes with it. Unless you are on BES and Desktop Manager 4.0, you can not do it. E-Mail is NOT synced over the USB cable.

so if i get BES and my desktop software then I should be able to get it to work? I think that if i can get things to operate like i mentioned above that this device would benefit me greatly. but i think if not then ebay may be in the near future

The BlackBerry is designed for online, over the air e-mail. RIM added functionality in so that you could send mail via a PC if you are in an area without communication. If you really want on offline e-mail client, with e-mail transmission when you sync, the iPaq or something else using PocketPC may be a better solution.

Odd. I use a BES and haven't found anyway to sync Email messages via the data cable between Outlook and the device. Please explain.

You can not sync e-mail. I never said that.
With BES 4.0 and HH 4.0 there is a feature where e-mail can travel from a BB to the PC to Outlook. I've never used it. You can not sync e-mail.

it seems to me like sort of a rediculous idea that u can not just "queue" messages so that once u try and sync up to the pc that it would then move them to outlook and then u could have them sent from outlook

That, of course, is your opinion. The BlackBerry does not and has never synced mail via Outlook. It works wirelessly. Perhaps it is the wrong device for u...

The whole benefit is the "push mail"...instant e-mail. The technology is there so you don't have to queue it.
It would be like buying a car to use as a buggy for your horse. It is definitely the wrong device for you.
