Red face No Charging indicator

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I'm a brand newbi to the world of BB. got a 8800 from a friend as a gift but he has missed the charger and told me to install desktop manager and and plugin the usb cable it'll start charging.

I installed the application provided in the cd, plugged it to usb. my laptop recognized the device and did all the installations and even showed its connected successfully.

but theres no indication in the phone, no lights no charger indications nothing.

i have no idea if its normal when there no charge in battery or if theres somethin wrong with it.

anyone can help me??

You don't see the little lightning bolt on the battery?

Have you tried a battery pull?

OK,

Removed it from the laptop, removed the battery and put it back in about 1 min.
plugged it back to usb and connected.

desktop manager says - disconnected although laptop detects when plugged.
Device manager statistics tab says device connected shows the time
phone is just like switched off no screen or light indicator.

when you put the battery back in, did you get the red LED and then the white screen with "ticking" clock icon?

removing and reinserting the battery should cause the red LED to come on.
If it doesn't, the phone isn't working and you'll never get it to work.

it literally sounds as if its dead.

not really.
unless for some reason its a dead battery and not even able to reboot itself when placed back in.
charge for 12 hours and try again.

London, welcome to the forums.

Is there anything on the screen? Icons? Or is it just a black screen?

It thinks there no battery in it.
have you tried taking out and putting back in? seeing if it will reboot it?

Hopefully its something to do with the battery, not the phone itself. i kept it plugged to the charger for about 10 hrs and the icon appeared (but screen was very dim) and when i removed it went..tried plugging again now nothing.

yeah i tried removing and plugging the battery back.
