I switched by Blackberry (7230) on tonight for the first time in several days and it downloaded all the email messages I have received in the past few days, even though I had downloaded them and read them on my desktop computer.

I haven't had by my Blackberry long and I wondered if this was normal. My email accounts are with an ISP and the Blackberry is configued accordingly.

This is normal. Assuming you have your BlackBerry set up with a BlackBerry Internet Service account from your wireless provider (and therefore have a <username>@<carrier>.blackberry.net email address). Your BIS account will poll any integrated mail accounts every 15 minutes and pick up any email that it has not seen before. It will bring these messages into your BIS account and deliver them to your BlackBerry. Turn your BlackBerry off, and they are still picked up by your BIS account from your POP mail server and await delivery.
