I currently have the Curve 8330, with lots of Caller ID photos and ringtones associated with many contacts. I have also been backing up the Address Book on a regular basis, specifically the Address Book ALL back-up option.

I will likely be getting the Storm 2, and I'm wondering if I need to re-associate all these images and ringtones, or are these associations part of the back-up?

If you use the "Switch Device Wizard", part of Desktop Manager and move over your microSD card, all ringtones and photo associations will move properly.

One last question: should I have Verizon transfer my Curve contacts to the new Storm 2, and then use "Switch Device Wizard"? Or should I back up my Curve contacts using Desktop Mgr, and then import them in to the Storm 2?

You still need to log into your BIS account and update it with the new PIN so that you will receive email on the new device.

I'll make it an easy choice for you, at least if you plan to stay with Sprint. You cannot use the Storm2 or Bold 9700. Pretty much leaves you just the Tour2.

I'll be a "free agent" on Nov 3, so I'm OK with changing carriers.

Although the Bold 9700 looks mighty fine, I am concerned about AT&T's network bogged down with all those iPhones (also still on my list, too). However, all my buddies in SoCal haven't expressed any problem with coverage, and I don't travel.

Definitely go to an AT&T store and get the feel of the 9700, especially the keyboard. Same for the Storm2. I couldn't stand the Storm1 with that whacky touch/press touchscreen. If they have truly straightened out that issue it may be worth a look. I love my Tour and won't bother upgrading to the Tour2 just for WiFi.

Most important is network coverage in your commonly traveled to areas. Just ask lots of questions of local folks on all the carriers you are considering.
