Exclamation 8800 is not getting registered on Vodafone India

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I just bought a new BB 8800 from Hongkong and its an unlocked phone ( when I type the MEPD by going to sim card, it shows five option and all shows as disabled including network) and to my knowledge its an unlocked phone.

But when I came to India and inserted by Vodafone sim card (which is activated for blackberry services) then BB services are not running on my phone, Vodafone customer care just says that this is a locked phone thats why its not able to register.

Where is the problem??

Any help help will be highly appreciated

When you insert the SIM card for Vodafone, do you get a good signal? Not the "SOS Only", but a connection to Vodafone towers?

* Log into your BIS page at Vodafone and enter (or re-enter) your IMEI and PIN.
* Use the Menu key to go to Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Tables and use the Menu key again to "Register with the Network".
* Resend your service books from the BIS page at Vodafone.

Hi,
I am properly connected to the vodafone tower as I can make and receive voice calls with this phone/sim card,

When I tries to enter Pin and IMEI on BIS page of vodafone it says your device is not registered with the service provider, go to option ---- host routing tables ------ etc.

I tried to tregister through option- advanced options-host routing table, but of no avail.

Though i can send and and receive sms and also firewall is off but I can not register this device.

Please advise.

Regards

Sounds like you need to call Vodafone and ensure your BlackBerry data plan is associated with your device through it's PIN/IMEI. If you don't get your info entered into the Vodafone BIS page you cannot get data sent to the device.

It seems there is dead end.

Vodafone customer care says that they can not associate any pin/Imei with my Data Plan, and that I will have to register it myself through phone, ---- ---host routing table--

Ask them if the PIN is associated with another carrier. That's the only reason I can think of for their inability to associate your device with your data plan. It may have been activated on another carrier, in which case it is definitely not new. It may only be "barely used", but that still isn't new and would qualify as a fraudulent sale.

I hope i'm wrong but I think I know the answer to your problem. If you have bought your BB from a seller in Hong Kong or China either through Ebay or one of the chinese discount mobile phone sales sites it is almost certainly a fake. The chinese are making them by the thousands and they are near perfect in as much as they look the same, feel the same, weigh the same and run the BB operating system but where the big problem comes is they make 100s of them at a time all with the same imei and pin so they will function perfectly as phones but will never be connectable to BIS because somewhere in the world that pin is already in use.

On a recent trip to China I saw shops bursting with them at unbelievable prices like brand new 8310s for $80 and you would never know that they weren't real.So as I said at the beginning of this post,I hope I'm wrong about your situation but with far eastern Blackberrys it's a case of if it looks too good to be true it probably is.

vodafone india customer care is probably the most useless, unhelpful bunch of gits i have ever come across in my life. not to mention, almost 95% of the time, they screw up the blackberry plans. they end up giving you a basic plan which includes 500mb of data, no wi-fi connectivity, only email and bbm. imagine that.

i would strongly suggest you speak to the people you bought your phone from. because you're not going to get a bunch of help from the gits here. i should know. i am on the phone practically every week with them because they invariably screw up.

Now I have really given Up, Vodafone Customer care is really very very unhelpful and useless they are not ready to cooperate, as their technical team is very illtrained and they new very basic things about blackberry and nothing else.

May be As Woddyuk mentioned I might have bought a fake one.
