Default Forgot to Delete Vendor File

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

Sorry I am new to these devices.

I installed the beta OS last week. I am actually going back down tonight because I think the browser is slower and I can't figure out how to turn that zoom off.

Anyways. I forgot to delete the vendor file when I originall installed the beta. If this was going to cause a problem would it have already caused the problem? (During the OS install perhaps)

Should I do anything special now that I am going down or am I all set?

doesn't matter, beta files rarely have the vendor file populated, and since you're downgrading now, it really doesn't matter at all. And leaving the vendor file doesn't do any damage--for most it just doesn't allow them to install OS releases that are not released by their device-branded carrier.

Actually sorry, one more question. I know its probably stupid and I am not letting go of this vendor file but I just keep hearing mention of it.

When you download an OS from the BlackBerry website, do they leave a blank vendor as well? The reason I ask is the OS I downloaded from the website was labeled...

8330AMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel177_PL3.4.0.20_A4.5.0.127_Bel l_Mobility

Didn't know if having Bell Mobility in the name made a difference. Should I look directly on Verizons site?

Generally, the vendor.xml file keeps a carrier's version of the OS from loading onto any other carrier's device. By deleting this file, useless except to restrict the OS's installation, you make the OS generic and installable onto any carrier's BlackBerry. So the vendor.xml file is like your tonsils. Totally unnecessary but yet it's there.
