I have a blackberry for work which syncs wirelessly with that server. Is it possible to sync the blackberry wirelessly on my laptop at home or must I connect to bb to the laptop?

But only if the company IT Policy allows it. Best to talk to your BES Admin and/or IT staff to see what is and is not allowed.

Bottom line is you can try the sync at home over USB, and if you get an error message that it's not allowed, so be it. Then you know for sure. If it does work, be prepared for your personal stuff and work stuff (appointments, contacts, memos, etc.) to be merged. This co-mingling of personal/work data is often enough to convince users not to even try a home sync.

Yes it will. Although, sometimes it's flaky on Vista.

Be careful when synchronizing a Blackberry that is enabled on a BES with a home or laptop computer via the Blackberry Desktop Manager software. I the home computer or laptop is not connected to your work network, the BDM will not be able to find the SRP number of your BES server and it will generate an encryption key on your device that corresponds to the mail server on your laptop or home PC, whatever that may be (gmail, hotmail,etc). That will effectively corrupt your connection (encryption key) with your company BES. When this occurs you will be able to send, but not receive corporate/company e-mail on your Blackberry device.
