8330 or 9630?

Since I can upgrade I was thinking about another 8330 but the price came down on the 9630. Is there any real difference besides looks?

MidnightDraven 10-17-2009 04:45 PM

yes.
the 9630 is newer, will get OS 5 (whereas Im not sure whether the 8330 will get OS 5)
i.e. newer features, better browser, and will eventually likely support flash.

Both will get OS 5.0 eventually.

I'd go with the 9630 if you can afford it. I just switched from the 8330 and really like the 9630. Much nicer camera (3.2MP w/ auto focus) and the screen clarity is nicer as well.

Don't get me wrong the 8330 is a nice device, but the 9630 is nicer, at least to me.

And more memory for the 9630.

I like the 8330

I like the 8330, too. But the OP should get the 9630.

Wirelessly posted

I loved my curve, bought the Tour on day one and have never looked back. Faster processor and more memory make the difference.

I have had them both. The keypads are different styles so you should check them both out at a Sprint store and see what suits you better. The 9630 is newer and has some upgraded features, but nothing that would make you want that model over the 8330 if the keypad on the 8330 was more to your liking.

For those of you on Sprint, are the 9630s MEID and get real MMS or do you get the picturemail links?

juwaack68 10-17-2009 08:21 PM

All of the 9630's that I've set up have been MEID, and when I receive MMS on my 9630 I get the actual picture, not the link.

Thanks juwaack, that makes it an easier choice when the time comes. I might head over to the sprint store and play with one.

rambo, I read in one of your other posts that you had the pre but switched back. It seems like a nice phone, what turned you back?

I still have my Pre and use it as a backup/change-of-pace device, but nothing does email like a BlackBerry. I missed my BB too much, and after a couple of weeks the "new-ness" of the Pre wore off. Once the "shiny new gadget" phase was done, the little weaknesses and missing features of the Pre let me look at it objectively. The keypad on the Pre doesn't compare to a BlackBerry, and the email handling was not up to the high standards I had come to rely on with my old BlackBerrys. No local sync with the Pre, no ability to change the sounds for different incoming messages, and an over-reliance on Google, all rubbed me the wrong way.

I can understand that. I tend to change phones like socks and I'm always attracted to the newest shiny stuff. However, I can say that the BB has been the best phone and yet I still gravitate to whatever is at the top of that damn phone list. I'm not really brand loyal when it comes to phones but I'm having trouble finding a reason to switch to something else.

Just wondering. Thanks for the info. The 9630 is probably what I'm going with unless Sprint carries some of the other models.

Thanks for all the opinions.
